Category:Conlangs by Purpose

From Langmaker

There are many ways to classify constructed languages, but perhaps the most significant way is classifying them by purpose. In other words: what was the intent of a conlanger when he created his language?

Of course, there are subtle differences between "purpose", "goal" and "motives". A person can create a language mainly for the pleasure of creating it, and subsequently present his project to the world as an international auxiliary language. This language, in turn, may be based on predicate logic, and it may be his belief that such a language, if used by millions of people, would have a positive effect on the world as a whole. It might even be that he keeps a diary in the language, or embeds it in a fictional culture. In this category, however, we restrict ourselves to the question: what is the primary purpose of the language, thereby omitting additional goals.
