Danan is for Isator zoxti and was created by Bruce Rimell. The web page is in English and Danan Bilingual. It has been used for a translation of the Babel Text.

Language sources

• Words have come from French, Japanese, Tahitian and other Polynesian languages, but Dananized so that they are often unrecognizable, and as such can be considered as typically Danan words.
• The phonology was originally based on a mixture of Basque and Tahitian, but the sound system has slowly changed over time, tending to move towards a more uniquely Danan sound which doesnt depend on comparisons with other languages.
• Since Danan is intended to be a natural language fake, the language has followed other languages in openly borrowing numerous technical and computing terms from English. Thus we have fonto "font", suhorodo "downLOAD" and chiric "click (of mouse etc)"

Design principles

Danan was designed to be a very creative natural language fake, which encourages ambiguity and further development. Grammatical rule breakage is common and accepted.

Interest of others

A few friends have some interest in the principles behind it. My partner is interested in the cultural development side of things.
