Jameld is for West Germanic conculture and was created by James Campbell.

Uniqueness

Jameld has over 4,000 words, derived from German, French, Dutch, Frisian and Esperanto. The author sums it up best, "Jameld is a constructed language, with an organic heart and an imaginary history. It is smooth and chocolatey on the outside, with a lovely fluffy centre, and it won't fill you up. Oh, and it looks like this: Te missa eri jist eskrïri int Jameld. Oquo na possmä zë vorvor ohn t'Internet!" Campbell has published Jameld translations in Zolid Matters, his e-journal. It's not supposed to be that unique... but the personal imperative is neat, [and I like the differentiation between stative and resultative participles.

Language sources

Originally: German, French. Latterly: Frisian, Dutch, German.

Design principles

The 'look and feel' is more important than strict linguistic correctness. If it feels Jameldic then it's right.

Interest of others

The members of te Binertglobakläi Jameld Zolidaton (the Jameld Association) all have some interest, and most know a few words. Some have formulated sentences, in speech, email or SMS messages. The membership is currently about 30. With one exception, their exposure to Jameld and conlanging in general is simply due to our friendship.

Status

By all accounts, this language appears to not only be complete but active. It has educational materials for learning the language in .PDF form as well as a comprehensive dictionary. There are numerous examples of translations. It has had a newsletter (now discontinued) & currently has a blog written in the language that is fairly up to date (as of May 28, 2007).
