Adding Conlang
Hello, I seem to remember on the old site one needed to have a website about their conlang before they could add it to Lang Maker. Does this still apply, or could I add a conlang even if it doesn't have a website? Thanks... –Benjamin 12:48, 17 June 2006 (EDT)
- To answer my own question: Per discussion on Talk:Lagogny, I believe it's OK to put new conlangs on LangMaker even if they don't have a previous web presence. Thus, I've added Ĝimlugand. –Benjamin 18:41, 20 July 2006 (EDT)
Categorization
I think it would be useful to add categorizations to this page. This way people may look for conlangs according to different criteria (influences, authors, etc.) besides their alphabetical order. It may take a while, but it may make the site more useful. This way, this page may become something like a disambiguation page. I know this may take some work, but it's not due tomorrow, is it? :-) Lwyx 17:15, 8 January 2007 (EST)
- Well, reordering it by type of language/script would be nice, but influences and authors would be too many to list. --Joseph Staleknight 07:10, 9 January 2007 (EST)

Again, it's not due tomorrow. For instance, a good starter would be a link to the Categories page; the next step would be reorganizing that Categories page: by date, by author, by influence, etc. It seems though that this fix may require fiddling with the wiki code, so that adding new categories to languages may lead to the right categorization in the Categories page.--- Lwyx 12:55, 10 January 2007 (EST)

- I just added the links for influences, authors, and scripts; that was easy, since there were already Categories for each. This way, it seems that the only job to do is to add wikilinks pointing to these categories in each language entry---something that could be done by fans of each language. I've just made a few ones myself! ;-) Lwyx 13:00, 18 January 2007 (EST)
- Now I'm convinced you can do it. I'll go see if I have a category. --Joseph Staleknight 07:04, 19 January 2007 (EST) [EDIT: Yes, I do! One thing, though: When you included a link to conlangs by script, I think you forgot that there was an author "script" there.]]
- Oops! I guess you're right... Now I'm confused: should I remove, redirect, or rename the [Category:Languages by script]? Should I just make it a disambiguation page? Would it be better to call it "[Category:Languages by writing system]"? Lwyx 19:00, 19 January 2007 (EST)
- I think I can change the link to something like [Category:Language_Script]; for consistency sake, however, the other link should be [Category:Language_Author]: this should be done by an admin; maybe Jeffrey himself... I'll drop him a message. --Lwyx 13:05, 20 January 2007 (EST)
Using "Category:Conlangs"
I think it would be more efficient to replace this page by the Category:Conlangs. --Florang 06:12, 28 September 2007 (EDT)
