Language sources
None consciously, although Arabic was probably there in my mind when I designed the subclauses (although on the outside it seemed to come naturally from the absence of distinction between prepositions and conjunctions).

Design principles
Basically I wanted a Romance language like no other I knew at the time. My principle was to make a Romance language as different from other Romance languages as English is to other Germanic languages. And as English has grammatically less forms than other Germanic languages, Reman went in the way of simplification too, though it took an unexpected turn :)) .
