Thereskeya was designed by Ben Poplawski as the language of a female-dominated warrior society ruled by their queen the Candace.

Language sources

Latin initially inspired Thereskeya, with its verb conjugations closely modeled on those of Latin. Greek has now become a major influence, in orthography and in the archaic case system that preceded this dialect.

Design principles

This was originally designed as a language for women (as the Theresian society is female-dominated), so in my chauvinism I made it very soft and flowing. (These are, of course, the same women who are feared and renowned for their skill in battle.) Grammatically, with nouns, I aimed for simplicity, but the complex verbs make up for that. Lately, the principle has been "put in anything that makes it look more like Greek".

Interest of others

Not many. A friend of mine, his website here, made up the name for the language (but it was originally called Thereskheyat).
