verbificent (ver-bif-i-cent) adj. adj. -cence [Lat. verbificens < verbificus : verbum, word + facere, to make.] 1. Extremely liberal in making new words. 2. Using high-sounding or fabricated words where common ones would do; e.g. æfinalizeÆ for æfinishÆ, æcopped the gonfalonÆ for æwon the pennantÆ, or even æverbificentÆ for æwordyÆ.
